The University of Maiduguri has announced that lectures and office duties will resume on Monday, September 23, 2024.
This decision comes after the temporary suspension of academic activities on September 10, 2024, due to the devastating flood that affected Maiduguri and its environs.
According to Ahmad Lawan, the institution's registrar, the resumption is possible due to the improvement in the situation and the rehabilitation of major access roads to the university.
The university management expressed sympathy for those affected by the flood and prayed for the souls of the departed.
The flood had displaced many, destroyed infrastructure, and claimed lives, prompting the university's management to take swift action to safeguard staff and students.
With the situation now under control, the university is set to return to normalcy.
