Adamu Muhammad and his accomplice, Saleh Muhammad, from Gwange, Maiduguri, were arrested on October 2, 2024, for allegedly using their kekenapep to rob passengers.
According to ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command's spokesman, during a press briefing on Saturday, the suspects were caught by the crack squad at Mala Kachalla Bypass on Wednesday.
The police received a report from Luka Moru of Bulumkutu Area, who claimed that the suspects stole his Infinix Smart 7 handset and ₦143,410 while en route.
In an interview with our reporter, Adamu confessed that they would pick up passengers, pretend to misbehave with the kekenapep, and then steal their belongings.
Another accomplice would follow behind to steal the victim's property.
Adamu recounted how they rob Moru where they took him from Bulumkutu to Gomari Airport, dropped him midway, and stole his phone before being caught at Bypass.
Both suspects have confessed to their crimes, and the stolen items have been recovered.
