Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has reappointed Professor Bulama Kagu as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Universal Basic Education Board (BSUBEB) for a second and final term.

The reappointment, effective from October 18, was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijani.

In the statement, the governor's decision comes as a recognition of Prof. Kagu’s exceptional performance during his first term, during which he implemented significant reforms that improved the basic education system in Borno State.

The governor expressed confidence that Kagu’s leadership would continue to propel further progress in the sector.

In the letter announcing the reappointment, Governor Zulum commended Prof. Kagu for his dedication and the transformational changes he brought to Borno's education sector, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to consolidating the gains achieved in the state's Universal Basic Education (UBE) system.

Prof. Kagu, an accomplished counselling psychologist and seasoned educationist, has had a distinguished academic career.

He began his journey at the University of Maiduguri as a graduate assistant in December 1990, rising through the ranks to become a Professor in 2007.

With expertise in counselling and educational psychology, Prof. Kagu has published over 50 scholarly articles and supervised numerous postgraduate theses.

Over the years, he has held several key positions at the university, including serving as head of the department of education and dean of the school of postgraduate studies.

The reappointment is expected to sustain the ongoing reforms in Borno's UBE system, reinforcing the government's dedication to improving education for children in the state.
