University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has announced a logo design competition as part of its preparations for the celebration of its 50th anniversary.
The institution is inviting artists and designers to create a logo that reflects the institution's history, achievements, and future aspirations.
According to a statement on Tuesday from the university’s Fiftieth Anniversary Committee, the competition is open to all interested individuals with artistic skills.
The winning logo will be selected by the committee and used as the official symbol for the Unimaid@50 celebration.
The university, established in 1975 with the motto 'Knowledge is Light,' is a leading higher institution in Nigeria's North East and the Lake Chad Basin region. It has made significant contributions in various academic disciplines, including Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Management Sciences, Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Over the past five decades, the institution has produced graduates at different levels—pre-degree, undergraduate, and postgraduate—who have taken up leadership roles nationally and internationally.
It has also been recognized for groundbreaking research and innovations in engineering, fisheries, and astronomy, some of which have been patented.
The committee has emphasized that the logo should encapsulate the university’s identity, achievements, and future aspirations.
Interested participants are required to submit their designs by March 31, 2025.
Submissions should be sent to Yusuf Nande, the Secretary of the Fiftieth Anniversary Committee, via email at yusufnande@unimaid.edu.ng or by contacting 08036035576.
The University of Maiduguri looks forward to a logo that will not only commemorate its golden jubilee but also symbolize its continued commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
