The Borno State Police Command has arrested a suspected major drug dealer and recovered a large cache of illicit substances in Bayo Local Government Area.
The arrest is part of the command's ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities through intelligence-led policing.
In a press release issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the Command stated that the breakthrough occurred on Saturday, August 23rd.
Acting on credible intelligence, a patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Bayo Division conducted an operation in the Fikayel area.
The operation led to the arrest of a suspect identified as Nasiru Ibrahim, who also goes by the alias “Doctor”.
During the arrest, police recovered 25 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, along with 34 pieces of Exzol tablets and 600 pieces of D5 tablets.
According to the statement, both the suspect and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Maiduguri for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution.
The Borno State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Naziru Abdulmajid, reiterated its commitment to fighting crime, particularly the "menace of drug abuse and illicit substances, which remain a major driver of insecurity in our communities."
