The management of Lake Chad Times Newspaper has paid a courtesy visit to Borno State University (BOSU) in Maiduguri.

The visit included a delegation from the newspaper comprising a board member, editors, the head of the newsroom, social media manager, and reporters.

Vice Chancellor of BOSU, Prof. Babagana Gutti, welcomed the team and assured them of the university's readiness to collaborate with the newspaper.

He highlighted the importance of strong ties between academia and the media industry.

He encouraged them to continue what they're doing and expressed being impressed by the initiative.

Prof. Gutti also called on them to put more emphasis on the economic crises of the country, especially as it affects many households in the state.

According to him, if the issue of the economy is solved, there will be no issue of marginalization.

He assured them of continued collaboration between the two parties.

Speaking during the visit, the Editor-in-Chief of Lake Chad Times, Abdulkadir M. Lawan, expressed gratitude to BOSU for the warm reception, noting that the institution’s support was an encouragement to the newspaper’s growth.

He also took the opportunity to introduce the members of his team who accompanied him.

Also speaking, an editor, Faiza Jibrin, who also addressed the gathering, gave a brief history of how the newspaper was founded and outlined its key areas of focus.

She further highlighted the organization’s five-year development plan, stressing the team’s commitment to growth, innovation, and impact in the media landscape.

Lake Chad Times Newspaper, which has rapidly grown into a promising media platform, was established by mass communication students from BOSU and the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) during their internship at Yerwa Express News.

Their shared passion for journalism has since developed into a thriving newspaper that continues to amplify voices and promote excellence in the media space.

Other members of the delegation are, Zara Abdulrahman (Head of Newsroom), Musa Idris Umar (Senior Correspondent/Social Media Manager), Aisha Umar Lawan (Editor), Fatima Muhammad Usman (Reporter), and Maimuna Mohammed Bulama (Reporter).
