The Borno State Police Command has launched a community sensitization program to address the rising risks of flooding and drowning.

In a released signed by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the police public relations officer said, following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, the initiative focused on residents living along waterways, with a specific event held on Friday at the River Gadabul axis (Damboa Road-Maduganari).

The sensitization became necessary due to an increase in local water levels and a number of recent drowning incidents.

The program brought together community members and various stakeholders to discuss crucial safety measures.

During the event, the police urged boat operators and passengers to prioritize safety by consistently using life jackets and buoysqq to prevent accidents.

The Borno State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and encouraged the public to report emergencies by using their dedicated contact numbers: 0802 347 3293 and 0806 807 5581.
