A 13-year-old orphan, Hauwa Muhammad who is deaf and mentally unstable, has given birth to a baby boy following a tragic rape incident.
She delivered the child via Cesarean Section (CS) surgery on Wednesday at Maryam Abatcha Hospital in Maiduguri.
Few months ago, this paper had reported how Hauwa was impregnated by unknown individual.
Hauwa, from the Jajeri community along Baga Road, was forced into motherhood under heartbreaking circumstances.
Her godmother, Khadija Ramat, told LAKE CHAD TIMES newspaper that both the mother and child are in good condition.
According to Ramat, the Borno State Government, through the ministry of women affairs and social development, has been supporting Hauwa since her pregnancy.
The commissioner of the ministry, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, provided essentials for the newborn, including a bucket, and baby clothes.
The commissioner, who is currently in Abuja on an official assignment, has promised to visit Hauwa upon her return to Maiduguri.
Ramat expressed gratitude for the support received from the commissioner and the state government.
