The Borno State Government has announced a statewide restriction on vehicular and human movement from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Eid al-Kabir day to ensure a peaceful and secure observance of Eid prayers.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum approved the temporary restriction, which covers all vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles across the state’s 27 local government areas.

The measure is aimed at safeguarding worshippers and maintaining order during congregational prayers.

In a statement signed by the commissioner for information and internal security, Prof. Usman Tar, the government said residents should attend Eid prayers at grounds nearest to their homes to ease movement and aid identification and access.

'To ensure security during Eid prayers, His Excellency Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved a temporary restriction of all vehicular and human movement statewide from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Eid day,' the statement read.

Exemptions will apply to security agencies, ambulances and other emergency vehicles, fire service personnel, and essential duty staff with valid identification.

Residents have been urged to comply with the directive and cooperate with security operatives deployed across the state.

Parents were also advised to caution their wards against any actions that could breach public peace.

Gov. Zulum felicitated with the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid al-Kabir.

He called for prayers for peace in Borno and Nigeria, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to security, reconstruction, and resettlement efforts.

The state government said the restriction is a routine security measure adopted during major religious gatherings to prevent incidents and ensure smooth conduct of Eid prayers.
