The Borno Geographic Information Service, BOGIS, has alerted the public to fraudulent activities involving the sale of government land within BOTP 99 Layout, behind the NNPC Depot, and BOTP 107B adjacent Bakassi Estate in Maiduguri.
In a public notice issued by the agency on Thursday, BOGIS clarified that the affected land is government property.
According to the notice, the land was previously revoked from the grantee and has not been allocated to any individual or organization.
The agency warned that any person currently claiming ownership or offering plots for sale in the area is doing so without lawful authority.
'Members of the public are therefore strongly advised to refrain from negotiating, purchasing, or developing any land within the layout.
'Any transaction entered into in respect of the area is null and void, and those involved do so entirely at their own risk,' the agency said.
BOGIS further urged residents and prospective land buyers to verify the status of any land with the agency before making payments or commencing any land transaction.
