Projects worth N20,961,070,947.29 were commissioned in Maiduguri by Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, on behalf of the Borno State Government.
The projects were headlined by a N15.9 billion flyover in the Post Office area — the fourth flyover in the state capital.
The commissioning marks as one of the largest single-day infrastructure rollouts by the Gov. Zulum administration, covering roads, drainage and education.
The nine-span Post Office Flyover was awarded in 2025 to Chinese contractors, Eighteenth Engineering Company, and completed within 11 months.
Speaking at the event, Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, said the project was constructed at a cost of N15,958,518,647.21.
'The Post Office nine-span flyover was constructed at a cost of fifteen billion, nine hundred and fifty-eight million, five hundred and eighteen thousand, six hundred and forty-seven Naira, twenty-one kobo only, and completed within 11 months,' he said.
According to the governor, the flyover is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety, and facilitate the movement of people and goods along one of Maiduguri’s important transportation corridors.
Alongside the flyover, the government also commissioned a 2.5km dualised road and 5km drainage from Budum Tandari Junction to Kasuwan Shanu.
Gov. Zulum said the road and drainage project gulped N5,002,552,300.08.
'We are equally commissioning the 2.5km dualised road with 5km of drainage from the Budum Tandari Junction to Kasuwan Shanu, constructed at a cost of N5,002,552,300.08,' the governor said.
In the education sector, Larawaram Community Senior Secondary School and Shehu Sanda Kyarimi 1 Primary and Junior Day Secondary School were also commissioned.
'Together, these projects represent our continued commitment to improving mobility, strengthening urban infrastructure and creating an environment that supports economic activity and social development,' Gov. Zulum stressed.
Governor Sule, who performed the commissioning, commended the Borno government for the investments.
’This is one of the projects we will be commissioning today, built by the administration of my dear brother, His Excellency, Babagana Zulum, for the benefit of humanity and for the benefit of our people,' Gov. Sule said.
He congratulated the people of Borno and residents of Maiduguri, describing them as the greatest beneficiaries of the projects.
With the Post Office Flyover now open, Maiduguri has four operational flyovers aimed at decongesting traffic in the rapidly growing capital.
