In a continued effort to promote public health and ensure the safety of its personnel and community members, the Borno State Police Command has conducted a large-scale medical outreach at Mashimari Barracks, Maiduguri.

ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command's spokesperson revealed this in a statement issued on Monday.

According to him, the program, provided crucial health services to over 500 residents, including vulnerable community members, aiming to address the immediate medical needs of those affected by recent flooding.

The outreach, coordinated by Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP ML Yusufu, is part of the police’s ongoing community engagement efforts.

In partnership with the National Police Officers' Wives Association (POWA), the initiative received substantial support from Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, the National POWA President, who generously donated medical supplies and relief materials for flood victims.

He said attendees benefited from a range of free health services, including medical consultations, blood pressure and blood glucose screenings, and malaria testing.

Along with the health checks, relief materials were distributed to the residents, with special attention given to hygiene and sanitation education aimed at preventing future outbreaks of disease.

He added that the outreach also provided an opportunity for disaster risk reduction awareness, as police officers educated the community on preparedness, prevention, and response strategies in the wake of natural disasters.

ASP Daso noted that the effort aligns with the command's broader commitment to ensuring public safety and improving the health and well-being of both police personnel and civilians.

He urged residents of Mashimari Barracks to take full advantage of the free medical services and encouraged greater collaboration between law enforcement and the local community.
