The Borno State Police Command has successfully re-arrested Kyari Kur, a 28-year-old convict who escaped from the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri during the devastating floods of September.
The re-arrest was announced by police spokesperson Kenneth Nahum Daso, in a statement issued on Friday.
According to him, Kur was captured on October 10, 2024, in Gubio town after a tip-off was received by police surveillance at the Gubio divisional headquarters.
He was serving a sentence for criminal conspiracy and theft.
Commissioner CP Mohammed Lawal Yusufu commended the public for their cooperation.
'The Borno State Police Command remains committed to ensuring public safety and justice. We appreciate the public's cooperation and urge them to continue providing timely information,' he said.
The command also encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities or information regarding fugitives to the nearest police station or through the numbers 0806 807 5581, 0802 347 3293.
