The Borno State Police Command has arrested a syndicate of six suspects involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, and extortion.
The suspects, identified as Modu Bindimi, Koso Modu Gana, Kassim Bulama, Isah Muhammed, Zarami Fantami, and Modu Bunu, were apprehended on October 25, 2024, in Chingowa Village, Konduga LGA, following a credible tip-off.
This was made known in a press release signed by the police public relations officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso on October 25, 2024.
According to him, this came as part of the police commands effort to combat criminal activities in the state.
He said the police recovered one pump action gun, one live cartridge, and N2,637,000 in cash from the suspects.
Further investigation revealed that the syndicate was responsible for armed robbery and kidnapping in Magumeri and Konduga LGAs, as well as extorting money from villages, in order to spare them from their criminal operation.
The suspects have since confessed to the crime and investigations are ongoing before they will be charged to court for due action.
In the release, Commissioner of Police, CP ML Yusufu, assured that the command is dedicated to maintaining public safety and security, while he urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the emergency contacts: 0806 807 5581, 0802 347 3293.
