The Borno State Police Command has successfully foiled an attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on Malari, a village in Konduga Local Government Area.
According to ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command's spokesperson, the operation was carried out by a crack team stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Malari.
He said the police team engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle around 1:00AM, forcing them to retreat with various degrees of bullet injuries.
'During a subsequent search of the area, security personnel discovered an unexploded hand grenade planted inside an abandoned Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to a vigilante group,' he added.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) experts were deployed to safely neutralize the device.
He added that Commissioner of Police Mohammed Lawal Yusufu commended the bravery of the police officers and the EOD-CBRN team for their swift response and successful operation.
