In a bid to strengthen ties with traditional leaders and promote immunization efforts, members of the Borno Community of Practice (CoP) paid an advocacy visit to the District Head of Khaddamari, Alh. Baba Abba Hassan Umar, in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.

Led by Dr. Adamu Alhassan Umar, the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) Borno State Zero Dose Learning Hub Focal Person, the team aimed to provide feedback on their recent assessment visit to two primary healthcare centers in the area.

The visited facilities included Dalaram Hospital and Gongolon Primary Healthcare Center, both in Jere Local Government Area.

Dr. Adamu noted that Dalaram Hospital performed well in terms of Routine Immunization (RI) coverage and maternal health services, while Gongolon recorded lower performance in these areas. However, healthcare workers at Gongolon reported a strong synergy between the facility and the surrounding community.

In an interview with Lake Chad Times, Dr. Adamu praised the district head, Alh. Baba Abba Hassan Umar, for his active engagement in routine immunization activities and his conversancy with the concept of zero-dose immunization and missed children.

Dr. Adamu noted that the district head's supportive supervision during immunization campaigns and his participation in evening review meetings at the ward and LGA levels have been particularly commendable.

In response to the visit, the district head thanked the team and assured his support for their efforts.

He commended the team and the project donors, noting that the project will greatly benefit the community, particularly children and women who frequent primary healthcare centers.

The district head also requested that a doctor be assigned to Zabarmari Primary Healthcare Center, a village in Jere Local Government Area.
