Over 63,000 victims of flood in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State have received food items and cash assistance from Federal Government of Nigeria.

The beneficiaries were Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host community members.

The relief materials, donated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were distributed under the supervision of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Director General, Dr. Mohammad Saidu Barkindo.

The distribution exercise, which lasted for over a week, prioritized the most vulnerable households, providing them with food grains such as maize, sorghum, and millet, as well as cash assistance.

Last week, Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum flagged off the distribution at Ngala, where he spent two days.

Dr. Barkindo appreciated the governor's efforts towards humanity and commended the federal government for supporting the people in their time of need.

According to Dr. Barkindo, 'the town was completely cut off from the rest of the country for about four months due to heavy rainfall and flooding. The movement of food items to Ngala has been cut off. This was the reason for our visit to cushion the hardships faced by the people in the LGA.'
