The Borno State Government has announced plans to enhance security, culture, and media in the state, with a substantial allocation of N27,174,550,000.00 to the ministry of information and internal security in the 2025 'budget of recovery and continuity'.
This investment is expected to have a significant impact on the state's security, cultural preservation, and media development.
In the area of security, the government plans to construct a Rapid Response Squad (RRS) headquarters in Maiduguri, establish a Security Command and Control Centre at Government House, and upgrade Fire Service Stations across the state.
The government will also provide operational vehicles to security agencies and implement training and reintegration programs for volunteer security agents.
To preserve and promote the state's rich cultural heritage, the government will construct museums in seven Emirate Councils, develop an All-In-One Cultural Centre, and renovate the Open Air Theatre.
A multimedia conferencing facility will be established, and a memorial site for insurgency will be constructed. The Council for Arts and Culture will be upgraded, and cultural programs and festivals will be organized.
In the media sector, the government will establish a Media Situation Room and New Media unit, modernize the Borno Radio Television (BRTV) Training School and community radio in Dikwa, and construct a Ministerial Media Briefing Gallery. A state-of-the-art photography studio and multimedia center will be established, and BRTV's infrastructure will be upgraded with modern equipment and solar power.
