Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has given the green light for a N1.4 billion project to dualize the 1.9km road leading to Muhammadu Buhari International Airport in Maiduguri.


This move comes as the airport prepares to start international flights.


The dualization project will span from Ngomari junction to the airport and extend to the Hajj Operational Unit, aiming to improve traffic flow and accessibility.


Commissioner of works, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, announced the development while briefing journalist after the state executive council meeting held on Monday at Government House, Maiduguri.


'Apart from the N1.4 billion approval for the airport road dualization, more roads and drainages would be executed across communities in the three senatorial districts this fiscal year,' Engr. Gubio said.


He also highlighted the completion of various road and drainage projects across the state, including repairs to roads damaged by recent flooding.
