Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has urged the new Shehu of Bama, His Royal Highness, Dr. Umar Kyari Umar ElKanemi, to unite the people of his emirate and provide inspired leadership.

The governor made the call on Tuesday during the presentation of the staff of office to the 2nd Shehu of Bama at the township stadium in Bama town.

He emphasized the importance of the monarch's role in promoting greater understanding and peaceful co-existence among the people.

He also encouraged the Shehu to continue building bridges of understanding and to support government policies for sustainable peace and development in the area.

Gov. Zulum acknowledged the positive contributions of traditional rulers in mobilizing citizens to complement government efforts, particularly in self-help initiatives, and expressed confidence that the new Shehu will consolidate on the solid foundation established by his late father, Alhaji (Dr.) Shehu Kyari Ibn Ibrahim ElKanemi.

He also announced plans to close down the Bama IDP camp and resettle displaced communities by the end of the year and assured the people of Bama that his administration will pursue policies and programs that improve their quality of life, in line with the state's development framework and strategic transformation plan.
