The Adamawa State Police Command has recovered and handed over a stolen handset to its rightful owner, Umar Hassan, after it was snatched by suspected Shila boys and sold to a notorious receiver.

The victim was reportedly robbed of his handset by suspected Shila boys when he boarded their tricycle as a passenger.

Following a prompt report and intelligence-led investigation, operatives of the command tracked the handset, arrested Khalifa Yahya, aka Khalid, the prime suspect, and the notorious receiver, Ibrahim Garba, aka Babangida, and recovered the phone.

During interrogation, the receiver confessed to buying the stolen handset from the Shila gang, knowing it was stolen property.

The recovered handset has since been handed over to the owner, who expressed gratitude to the police for the swift recovery.

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, commended the operatives for their professionalism and diligence.

He reiterated the command's determination to clamp down on Shila gangsterism, robbery and receiving of stolen property across the state.

He further warned those who buy stolen items that they will be treated as criminals and prosecuted accordingly, and urged members of the public to always report suspicious persons and promptly report robbery incidents to the nearest police station.
