The two young girls, Hauwa Mohammed Goni and Ummina Hajara Mohammed Goni, who were victims of a disturbing child abuse incident captured in a viral video last week, have been discharged from the hospital and are making a steady recovery.
In a statement on Monday signed by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, public relations officer, Borno State Command, provided an update on the case, confirming that the children, who were subjected to cruel treatment by a couple, are now in a stable condition and receiving necessary care.
According to the statement, their father, Mr. Goni Murmured, the children visited the state headquarters, where they received financial support from senior police officers.
'The victims... have been discharged from the hospital and are recovering,' ASP Daso stated.
'The Borno State Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice and will continue to provide updates to the public as the case progresses.'
The viral video, which sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, prompted swift action from the police, leading to the arrest of the perpetrators. The police have assured the public that they are diligently pursuing the case to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
This update provides a sense of relief to the community, who were deeply concerned about the children's welfare.
