Following the recent attacks by terrorists on military formations, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar has announced that the Nigerian military has made significant progress in degrading terrorists in the North-East region.

Recall that a few days ago, terrorists attacked military bases in Marte, Rann, Dikwa, and other locations, resulting in the killing of soldiers and looting of operational equipment.

Despite these attacks, he said the military remains resolute in its determination to completely defeat terrorism and restore peace to the region.

According to him, over 20 terrorists were neutralized in the last week alone, and arms and ammunition were recovered.

He said that the military continues to conduct operations on multiple fronts, and citizens are returning to their communities and socio-economic activities.

The Theatre Commander attributed the ongoing conflict to the situation in the greater Sahel region, where barracks in neighboring countries are being ransacked and weapons carted away, which eventually find their way into Nigeria due to its large and porous borders.

He added that the military has adapted its strategies to counter the terrorists' use of technology, including armed drones.

The Theatre Commander assured that the military will bring the battle to a favorable conclusion and urged terrorists to surrender or risk being eliminated.

He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in fighting terrorism, citing the need for Nigerians to assist the military in identifying and isolating bad elements.

The Theatre Commander also highlighted the vast size of the Theatre of Operation, which requires a methodical and phased approach.

He called on Nigerians to continue supporting the military in its efforts to restore peace to the region.
