A teenager and two brothers were among several suspects arrested by the Borno State Police Command for different criminal offenses in Maiduguri.

The suspects were apprehended in separate operations, with stolen property and dangerous weapons recovered.

According to a press release on Friday by the command's spokesman, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, two suspects, Sule Aminu and Auwal Jasi, were arrested for snatching mobile phones and tricycles around Dandal roundabout area.

He said they were found in possession of two stolen tricycles, specifically commercial tricycles known as Keke Napep, with body numbers GRA 2052 and GRA 438, which belonged to Umar Goni Kyari and Mohammed Goni, respectively.

The suspects allegedly snatched the tricycles from their owners and were also found with two mobile phones, which were snatched from Hussaini Bukar.

He added that two long knives and two long sticks were recovered from them.

In another operation, four suspects were arrested for burglary and possession of dangerous weapons.

The suspects include Abdulrahman Muhammad Abubakar, a 17-year-old who was arrested with a knife, and two brothers, Yahaya Ali Garga, 24 years old, and Salisu Ali Garga, 18 years old.

The brothers were arrested in possession of eight stolen mobile phones, which they reportedly stole after breaking into a phone charging shop in the New York area behind UMTH Maiduguri. Another suspect, Kawu Haruna Ali, was found with a cutlass.

ASP Daso noted that the command has charged the suspects to court and urges the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
