The Borno State Police Command has welcomed CP Naziru Abdulmajid as its new commissioner of police.
CP Abdulmajid assumes office as the 43rd Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, following the retirement of CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, on June 8, 2025.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the command's spokesman, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, with over three decades of distinguished service, CP Abdulmajid brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
He has served in various capacities across the country, including operational, investigative, and administrative positions.
ASP Daso said the new CP has performed conventional police duties in several state commands, including Plateau, Katsina, Kano, Borno, and Lagos. Additionally, he has held key positions such as Unit Commander, 36 PMF, Kebbi State, and Assistant Commissioner, State CID, Nasarawa State.
CP Abdulmajid's impressive career also includes stints as Area Commander, Hadejia, Jigawa State, Commander, 24 PMF, Presidential escort, Abuja, Deputy Commissioner, Department of Operations, Akwa Ibom State, and Deputy Commissioner, ‘X’ Squad, FCID Annex, Kaduna State.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Commissioner of Police (Admin), ICT, Force Headquarters, Abuja. CP Abdulmajid holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Geography from Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
As he assumes office, CP Abdulmajid has pledged to work to ensure the safety and security of all residents of Borno State.
ASP Daso added that CP Abdulmajid is committed to upholding professionalism, promoting community-friendly policing, and maintaining zero tolerance for corruption, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
In the statement, the command calls on the people of Borno State to extend their full cooperation to the new commissioner of police as he works to ensure peace, security, and public trust across the state.
