The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, paid a working visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, to boost the morale of troops fighting the Boko Haram insurgency in the region.
Admiral Ogalla's aeroplane landed at the Air Force Base in Maiduguri on Saturday morning.
The visit is aimed at interacting with naval personnel stationed at various formations in the state, assessing their operational readiness, and providing guidance to enhance their effectiveness in the fight against terrorism.
The CNS's visit is also expected to provide a morale boost to the troops who have been battling the Boko Haram/ISWAP sect for over a decade.
During his visit, Admiral Ogalla is scheduled to meet with the state governor and visit wounded troops receiving treatment at the Maimalari Cantonment Hospital in Maiduguri.
This visit comes on the heels of a recent successful operation by naval troops in Baga, a town in Kukawa Local Government Area, where they repelled an attack by suspected Boko Haram fighters.
The visit is expected to further enhance the operational effectiveness of the troops and contribute to the ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the North-East region.
