The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has issued a strong warning to the general public regarding the activities of fraudsters impersonating the company’s officials to extort money from unsuspecting individuals and organizations.

In a public notice signed on Monday by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the company alerted Nigerians and the international business community to beware of individuals and companies who falsely claim to represent NNPC Limited.

These impostors have been soliciting fees under the pretense of arranging meetings with the company’s board of directors, executives, and management staff.

NNPC described these actions as “unauthorized and illegal,” urging foreign investors and international partners to exercise heightened caution.

The company advised that any suspicious approach should be promptly reported to the appropriate authorities.

'All legitimate engagements with NNPC Limited occur strictly through official channels or business units only,' the notice emphasized.

Members of the public seeking clarification are encouraged to contact NNPC via its official email: contactus@nnpcgroup.com.

'Let’s work together to prevent scams. Stay alert and share this notice,' the statement concluded.
