The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has been renamed Muhammadu Buhari University, in honor of the late President's contributions to the country.

The announcement was made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during an expanded Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja.

This decision comes shortly after President Buhari's passing on Sunday at a clinic in London, and his subsequent burial on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura.

The renaming is a testament to his legacy and impact on the nation.

The university, now bearing his name, is expected to continue its academic excellence, building on the foundations laid by its students, staff, and alumni.
