The North East Development Commission (NEDC) football competition has reached a significant milestone with the conclusion of its first round.

The announcement was made by Abubakar Abdulazeez, also known as Bolori, organizing secretary of the competition while briefing journalists in Maiduguri on Tuesday.

According to Bolori, the first round of the competition came to an end on July 20, 2025, after a thrilling run that began on April 26, 2025.

Out of the 48 teams that initially participated, only 16 teams successfully qualified for the round of 16.

The organizing committee is set to host a seminar refresher for the qualified teams on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

This seminar aims to familiarize the teams with the new rules and regulations of the competition, ensuring a smooth and fair game moving forward.

In preparation for the seminar, Bolori informed all qualified clubs to send in their representatives.

'Attendance is compulsory,' he emphasized, stressing the importance of having all teams represented.

'We wish all the qualified teams a successful round ahead,' Bolori said, expressing his best wishes for the teams' future performances.

The NEDC football competition is a significant initiative that promotes sports development and unity in the North East region.
