Thirteen stolen mobile phones worth N3 million have been recovered in Maiduguri by Borno State Police Command.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command's spokesman, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso.
According to him, the recovery was made possible through the vigilance of the GSM Village Committee, who intercepted the devices from suspected criminals attempting to unlock and sell the phones without proof of ownership.
He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, praised the committee’s commitment to security and public safety, urging other business communities to emulate such partnerships with law enforcement.
He also called on individuals who may have recently lost their phones to visit the Police Crack Squad Office with valid identification for verification and possible claim of their property.
The command reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding lives and property, warning criminal elements to desist from unlawful acts or face the full wrath of the law.
For further inquiries or emergencies, the public is advised to contact the Police Command via 0806 807 5581 or 0802 347 3293.
