A delegation led by the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Primary Health Care Development Board (BoSPHCDB), Prof. Arab Mohammed Alhaji, paid an advocacy visit to the Borno State House of Assembly on Thursday.

The delegation, which included members of the Community of Practice (CoP) for Immunization Budget Tracking, Accountability, and Transparency, and representatives from Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN), met with the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Hon. Mustapha Maina Garbu, and other members of the assembly.

The purpose of the visit was to present the immunization scorecard of 2024 in the state to the legislators and advocate for improved immunization budget in the state.

The delegation included directors of the board, key staff, and partners from the Gates Foundation, SOLINA, CHAI, and SWAP.

The advocacy visit explored areas of interest to the legislative arm and efforts towards sustaining and building on the long-lasting investment in healthcare in the state.

The highlight of the visit was the symbolic presentation of the developed immunization scorecard to the Health Care Services.

In a related development, Hon. Mustapha Maina Garbu led a delegation on an oversight assessment visit to Yerwa PHC (MMC) and Dalaram PHC (Jere LGA), two primary health care centers in Borno State.

The visit was part of the Lagos Declaration, where Borno State lawmakers pledged to assess primary health care centers in the state.

The delegation was impressed by the commitment of the facility staff and pledged to conduct follow-up visits to assess progress and extend the exercise to other primary health care centers across the state.

The chairman committed to conducting another visit to the facilities in the coming weeks to assess the progress of the observations made.
