The President of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Lilian Ogogo CG Musa, has announced the establishment of the DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy in Abuja.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the launch of the 'Thank You to Our Troops' campaign in Maiduguri.
According to her, the academy is a living legacy to the children and families of fallen soldiers, aiming to be a beacon of unity, innovation, and global competitive readiness.
She said phase 1 of the academy is scheduled for commissioning in September 2026.
'Every qualified child of a fallen hero will receive automatic, full scholarships to attend the academy,' she said.
Mrs. Musa added that the academy will also admit children from surrounding communities to foster integration and national cohesion.
Additionally, 100% of children of fallen heroes will receive scholarships to attend DEPOWA and sister organizations' schools across Nigeria.
The president emphasized that the academy will symbolize the promise that the sacrifices of fallen soldiers will never be forgotten, providing their children with the tools, education, and confidence to lead with distinction.
The 'Thank You to Our Troops' campaign, where the announcement was made, aims to honor the sacrifices of troops in Nigeria, particularly in Borno State, the heart of the fight against insurgency.
