The management of the Federal Polytechnic Monguno has raised alarm over the creation of a fake Facebook account in the name of its Rector, Engr. Prof. Garba M. Ngala, FNSE, FNIMechE.
In a statement signed on Tuesday by Shettima Kunduli Kawuri, of the Information and Public Relations Unit, the institution disclosed that the fraudulent account was opened with the intent to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The Polytechnic clarified that the Rector’s only authentic Facebook account is under the name “Garba Ngala”, and not “Engr. Prof. Garba Mohammed Ngala” or any similar variation.
'The Rector does not operate, own or authorize any other account aside from his genuine profile. The fake account is the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit his name and office,' the statement read.
The management urged the public to exercise caution by disregarding, reporting, and blocking the fake account in order to avoid falling victim to the fraudulent scheme.
