Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri, has announced the appointment of Professor Fanna Inna Abdulrahman as its Acting Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment, which took effect on Monday, was approved by the university's Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the Governing Council.
Professor Abdulrahman, a seasoned academic and accomplished administrator, brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Until her appointment, she was on a sabbatical leave from the University of Maiduguri, where she has been a distinguished lecturer in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
She is also the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration) at Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri.
A native of Ngumati in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State, Professor Abdulrahman has a long and distinguished academic career.
She holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., Master of Public Administration, and a Ph.D., all from the University of Maiduguri.
Starting as a Graduate Assistant in 1988, she rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in 2011.
Throughout her career, Professor Abdulrahman has been a prolific scholar, with over 150 scholarly articles published in reputable national and international journals.
She has also supervised over 150 undergraduate projects, 35 M.Sc. theses, and 15 Ph.D. dissertations, with five of her doctoral graduates now serving as Professors.
Her administrative experience is equally extensive, having served as Head of Department, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and held other key positions.
The university's Board of Trustees expressed confidence that her leadership will contribute significantly to the growth and development of Al-Ansar University.
