Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has commissioned 47 brand-new four-wheel drive vehicles and 50 motorcycles for security agencies in Yobe State.
The commissioning, which took place on Tuesday at the Government House in Damaturu, was attended by senior government officials, security chiefs, and community leaders.
Governor Buni said the provision of logistics was part of his administration’s unwavering commitment to sustaining peace and security across the state.
He stressed that the vehicles and motorcycles would improve the mobility and effectiveness of security forces, especially in remote and difficult terrains.
'The purpose of today’s occasion is to step up government’s efforts towards supporting security agencies to enable them carry out their duties more efficiently,' Gov. Buni said.
'We are committed to providing every necessary support to our security forces to ensure the safety of lives and properties,' he added.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support in strengthening peace and security in Yobe.
He paid tribute to the dedication and gallantry of security personnel, vigilante groups, and hunters, noting that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
To ensure sustainability, Governor Buni directed local government chairmen to take over the maintenance of the vehicles allocated to police formations in their areas.
Special Adviser on Security Affairs, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd.), praised the governor for what he called a “force multiplier.”
'These vehicles and motorcycles will address our critical mobility challenges, allowing for faster response times and wider coverage,' Abdulsalam said.
He added that the support would reinvigorate the morale of officers and men on the field.
The vehicles are expected to be deployed immediately across security formations in the state to further strengthen the fight against criminality.
