Folorunsi S. Aluka, director general of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, PGF, has commended Babagana Umara Zulum, governor of Borno State, describing his leadership as transformative and people-centered.

Aluka made the remarks during the quarterly strategic summit of commissioners of information from All Progressives Congress, APC, governed states held in Maiduguri.

He said Zulum’s administration has recorded major progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, social welfare, and economic development.

Aluka cited the allocation of N4.8 billion for scholarships, sponsorship of more than 25,000 students for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, and N1.2 billion in funding for students studying in China.

He also mentioned the establishment of new health facilities, including a Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care center, and the provision of free kidney dialysis for over 140 patients every week.

Aluka highlighted the construction of the 113-kilometer Maiduguri ring road and several other urban development projects across the state.

He said Zulum’s administration has strengthened agricultural productivity through fertilizer distribution, rehabilitation of the South Chad Irrigation Scheme, and partnership with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, NALDA.

He also praised the governor’s proactive approach to security, which includes empowering local security forces, promoting peace dialogues, and supporting humanitarian relief to households affected by conflict.

Aluka said the achievements under Zulum’s leadership have restored hope and stability in Borno, setting an example for other APC-governed states.
