Saheed Olaitan Leshe, a suspect linked to the theft and unauthorized withdrawal of funds from a Point of Sale (POS) machine, has been apprehended by the Borno State Police Command.
In a statement issued on Monday by the command's spokesman, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Leshe was arrested on July 30, 2025, at about 06:30PM by operatives attached to the State Intelligence Department.
ASP Daso said the suspect was found in possession of a stolen POS machine belonging to Bashir Babagoni, which was reported stolen from his shop at West End area of Maiduguri on July 7, 2025, at about 03:18PM.
'A total sum of N505,000 had been withdrawn from the machine,' ASP Daso said.
According to ASP Daso, Leshe confessed to the crime during investigation.
The case is currently under investigation, and he will be charged to court soon.
The police command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged the public to remain vigilant, reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station promptly.
