Prof. Halima Idrisa Gambo has been appointed as the pioneer Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Lake Chad Times Newspaper.

Her nomination was announced during the board's inaugural meeting held on Sunday, marking a new chapter for the women-led media organization.

Prof. Gambo, who is the first female professor of veterinary pathology in the country, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.

As the chairperson of the board, she will provide strategic leadership and guidance to the organization, which focuses on reporting issues around women, children, and other vulnerable groups in the Lake Chad Region.

The board's composition is a testament to the organization's commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Dr. Abdulmutallib Ado Abubakar, the Head of Department of Mass Communication at the University of Maiduguri, will serve as the Vice Chairman, while Abdulkadir M Lawan, the Editor-in-Chief of Lake Chad Times Newspaper, will act as the Secretary of the board.

  • Prof. Abubakar Mu'azu, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, UNIMAID
  • Hon. Zuwaira Gambo, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs
  • Abdulhamid Al-Gazali, Editor-in-Chief of Yerwa Express News
  • Mohammed Bukar Umara, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Co-Development Hub

Prof. Gambo's appointment and her leadership is expected to drive the organization's mission to promote the rights and welfare of women, children, and other vulnerable groups in the Lake Chad Region.
