The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has assured troops of the Theatre Command Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai of improved welfare and wellbeing.

He made the assurance on Friday morning at the Headquarters of the command in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State, during a visit aimed at boosting troop morale, assessing their condition, and interacting with them.

'You already know the task ahead, it is now your time to end the Boko Haram crises affecting the North East region,' he charged.

He emphasized the need for increased efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.

The COAS urged them to make extra efforts to end the over a decade-long insurgency in the North East region.

He outlined plans to improve the welfare of troops, including prompt payment of allowances, healthcare, housing, and other benefits.

'I am here to boost your morale, encourage you, and assess your condition,' he said, urging the troops to do more as much is expected of them.

Lt. Gen. Shaibu's visit is part of his two-day operational visit to the state, following his assumption as the new COAS.

His visit is aimed at revitalizing the troops and enhancing their capacity to tackle the insurgency.
