The newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi A. Shaibu, has arrived in Maiduguri, Borno State, for an operational visit aimed at assessing the security situation and boosting troop morale.
He was received at Maiduguri Air Force Base by the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai, senior military officers among others.
The Army Chief will commission some developmental projects in the Theatre Command and receive briefings from various sector commanders.
He is also expected to addressed front line troops of the Theatre.
General Shaibu's visit comes days after his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, replacing Lieutenant General O. Oluyede, who was appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff.
As the immediate Theatre Commander of North East Operation Hadin Kai, General Shaibu is expected to leverage his experience to enhance security operations in the region.
