The Borno State Government has announced major education interventions in its 2026 budget to improve access to learning for internally displaced children and vulnerable households.

The plan focuses on rebuilding education infrastructure in resettled communities and expanding support systems for children affected by conflict.

The government will construct nine new Higher Islamic Colleges across northern and southern Borno to serve children from displaced and underserved areas.

Seven new Mega Schools will be built in communities with high numbers of vulnerable learners to reduce overcrowding and improve learning conditions.

Two new state libraries will be constructed in Monguno and Biu to support students from low-income families with access to learning resources.

Three Institutes of Information and Communication Technology will be established in Dikwa, Monguno, and Askira Uba to equip vulnerable youths with digital skills.

School facilities damaged by conflict and displacement will be rehabilitated in at least fifty schools across the state.

Fifty units of staff houses will be constructed to encourage teachers to accept postings in resettled and hard-to-reach communities.

Existing schools will be equipped with ICT laboratories to help displaced students access digital learning and national examinations.

The education ministry will also rehabilitate WASH facilities and install solar power in selected schools to create safer learning environments for vulnerable children.

The Borno State Scholarship Board will prioritize students from disadvantaged backgrounds for local and international scholarships in 2026.

Vocational and technical education support will be expanded to help vulnerable youths acquire practical skills for employment.

A total of N135.4 billion has been allocated to the education sector to improve access, retention, and learning outcomes for displaced and vulnerable populations.

The government says the education interventions are aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty and displacement through inclusive learning opportunities.
