The Police Service Commission has opened the recruitment portal for the enlistment of fifty thousand police constables into the Nigeria Police Force.
The announcement follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive to strengthen community policing and boost internal security through increased manpower.
The commission said the new recruitment cycle is designed to address the growing demand for security personnel across the country.
The PSC noted that the process will run entirely online and will be open to eligible Nigerians from December 15, to January 25, 2026.
The guidelines show that applicants for the general duty cadre must have at least five credits in GCE, SSCE, or NECO, including English and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.
The specialist cadre requires at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, alongside three years of practical experience and relevant trade test certifications.
The commission said applicants must be Nigerians by birth and must fall within the approved age brackets of 18 to 25 years for general duty and 18 to 28 years for specialists.
The commission added that physical, medical, and psychological fitness will be mandatory for all candidates.
The PSC also stated that height requirements will apply only to general duty applicants, with the minimum set at 1.67m for men and 1.64m for women.
The recruitment body stressed that the process will be transparent and merit-based, with no payments required at any stage.
The Commission warned applicants to avoid fraudsters and rely only on the official recruitment portal and verified PSC and NPF channels.
The portal will be activated on December 15, through the link provided by the Commission.
Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, urged qualified Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the nation.
This recruitment marks one of the largest police enlistments in Nigeria’s history.
