Small and medium-scale business owners in Southern Borno have received financial support as part of the state’s post-insurgency economic recovery efforts.

Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State, disbursed N1 billion to SMEs across five local government areas on Thursday.

The benefiting local government areas are Biu, Hawul, Shani, Bayo, and Kwaya-Kusar.

The funds are intended to support local entrepreneurs and strengthen business sustainability at the grassroots level.

He said the intervention is aimed at boosting economic activities and promoting self-reliance among residents.

He explained that supporting small businesses remains critical to long-term recovery and stability in communities affected by conflict.

In Biu, the governor also directed the immediate rehabilitation of the Borno State Hotel Annexe to revive local economic activities.

The interventions form part of the administration’s broader strategy to combine economic empowerment with social stability.
