Nigerian Defence Minister, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (Retired), has touched down in Maiduguri, Borno State, for a high-level visit focused on assessing the security landscape.

Accompanied by the state minister for defence, Muhammad Bello Matawalle, there were received by Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, and other top brass, this marks Gen. Musa's first visit to the state since assuming office.

The visit comes after recent escalating attacks in Borno State, prompting the minister to engage with frontline troops at the Headquarters of the theatre command.

His agenda includes commissioning projects, reviewing security operations among others.

Gen. Musa's visit follows earlier visits by the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff, who came to the state weeks ago on directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for service chiefs to relocate to Borno State, amid ongoing efforts to address insecurity in the region.
