An undisclosed number of women and children are missing after Boko Haram/ISWAP attacked Ngoshe, a town in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Tuesday attack killed soldiers and residents, destroyed properties, and left over a thousand people, mostly women and children, fleeing to Pulka for safety.

Reports indicate over a hundred people, mainly women and children, are missing.

Ngoshe, a newly resettled community near the Mandara Mountains, has been targeted by terrorists multiple times.

A source said the insurgents, who attacked shortly after Ramadan fasting, overwhelmed the military with superior firepower.

However, a security source said the air component of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai neutralized some fleeing terrorists.

This attack highlights the ongoing insurgency impact on civilians, especially women and children.
