Former House of Representatives member for Kukawa, Abadam, Mobbar and Guzamala, Hon. Isa Lawan Kangar, has said there is “no opposition” in Borno State, adding that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is only waiting for the election date to sweep all electoral seats.

He spoke on Friday at Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Maiduguri, while welcoming Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and APC consensus gubernatorial candidate, Engr. Mustapha Gubio.

According to Kangar, even opposition parties know they cannot win elections in the state.

'Before, I was a member of the opposition party, but I decamped because of the good work of Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum in the state,' he said.

Kangar revealed that he had earlier aspired to purchase a senatorial nomination form but stepped down after the governor’s intervention for a consensus candidate.

'I align myself with the governor’s wish and my party. I will support the consensus candidate,' he assured.

He urged all his supporters to back the APC “at whatever level” and wished all consensus candidates victory in the 2027 polls.

The former lawmaker also commended Gov. Zulum for not seeking another elective office after his tenure, describing it as a mark of good leadership.

'Even the governor did not aspire for anything. This shows that he is a good leader. You know most governors, when their term expires, will aspire to go to the Senate. But what he is up to is that his people should be carried along,' Kangar explained.
