The Borno State Government has made a commitment to improving maternal and child health, allocating N89.98 billion for the health sector in its 2025 'budget of recovery and continuity.'
This substantial investment will be utilized to upgrade the state's healthcare system and provide quality healthcare services to its citizens.
The government plans to upgrade healthcare facilities by constructing and rehabilitating hospitals, including an orthopedic hospital in Maiduguri and general hospitals across the state.
In the budget, hospitals will be equipped with essential medical equipment such as X-ray machines, surgical tools, and laboratory supplies.
This will enable healthcare professionals to provide quality medical care to patients.
The state government also aims to strengthen primary healthcare by upgrading and constructing new primary healthcare centers.
This will improve access to basic healthcare services, particularly in rural areas where healthcare facilities are scarce.
Also, the government plans to expand the coverage of the state's health insurance scheme to include more civil servants and vulnerable populations.
To ensure that healthcare professionals are equipped to provide quality care, the government will invest in their training and development.
This will enable them to stay up-to-date with the latest medical practices and technologies. Moreover, the government will intensify efforts to combat infectious diseases such as malaria and HIV/AIDS, which are prevalent in the state.
