The Borno State Police Command has hosted two Deputy Inspectors-General of Police who urged residents to supply actionable intelligence as the Nigeria Police Force pushes for intelligence-led policing across the North-East.
The delegation, led by DIG Zachariah Fera Achinyan, in charge of the Force Intelligence Department, and DIG Zango Ibrahim Baba, in charge of Research and Planning, visited Maiduguri on behalf of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
Speaking during an interactive session with critical stakeholders, DIG Achinyan said community cooperation remains the backbone of effective security operations.
'Actionable intelligence remains central to effective policing,' he told traditional rulers, religious leaders, PCRC members, and other stakeholders.
'We are calling on residents of Borno State to provide the Police with necessary intelligence reports. Security is everyone’s business, and timely information from the public will help us address contemporary security challenges faster,' he urged.
He reiterated the force’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and service excellence, while conveying the IGP’s pledge to strengthen strategic partnerships with communities to improve intelligence sharing and build public trust.
In a separate engagement with officers and men of the command, DIG Achinyan and DIG Baba commended personnel for their resilience in the challenging operational environment of the North-East.
They urged officers to remain disciplined and proactive, leveraging intelligence gathering and community engagement to tackle emerging threats.
The visit also included strategic consultations with key stakeholders on measures to consolidate gains made in the fight against insurgency and crime in the state.
