One Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist was killed on Saturday as troops of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) foiled an extortion mission targeting civilians in Yobe State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, by Captain Mohammed Goni, the OPHK's spokesman, the troops of Forward Operating Base, FOB Bukarti, and the 27 Task Force Brigade acted on credible intelligence about two Volkswagen Golf vehicles and motorcycles conveying terrorists to collect illegal levies.
Capt. Goni said the troops engaged the suspects at the Paya Kafiya axis on 19 July 2026.
During the firefight, one Volkswagen Golf vehicle was immobilised and its driver killed.
Four other terrorists fled into the bush with gunshot wounds.
A follow-up operation on 20 July 2026 along the Paya Kafiya–Garin Gada axis led to the recovery of the abandoned vehicle and several items.
Recovered items include 25 rounds of belted PKT ammunition, one loaded AK-47 magazine, 15 empty PKT ammunition cases, assorted drugs, and mechanical tools used for terrorist logistics.
OPHK said the operation disrupted an attempt to fund terrorist activities through extortion and further degraded Boko Haram/ISWAP networks in the North East.
The Theatre said it will sustain intelligence-driven offensive operations until terrorism is decisively defeated and peace is fully restored.
