Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have foiled an ISWAP infiltration attempt in Cross Kauwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, stopping the terrorists from looting medical supplies meant for cholera treatment.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Captain Mohammed Goni, the OPHK's spokesman, the attack occurred at about 10:20PM on 11 July 2026.
According to him, troops of 19 Brigade, Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East detected the movement and responded with overwhelming firepower.
The terrorists were forced to retreat in disarray after suffering heavy casualties.
Capt. Goni said the attempted raid further confirms intelligence reports of a cholera outbreak within ISWAP enclaves, with some affected members reportedly executed by the group.
The group’s attempt to raid military and civilian medical stores indicates it is struggling to contain the outbreak internally.
During post-attack exploitation, troops recovered PKT and 7.62mm ammunition, terrorist uniforms, combat enablers and a Sony camcorder containing operational footage.
Satellite imagery and human intelligence confirmed that ISWAP evacuated the bodies of neutralised fighters.
Two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds during the engagement and were evacuated by air for advanced medical care. Both are in stable condition.
'OPHK remains resolute in sustaining offensive operations, protecting vulnerable communities and dismantling terrorist networks until lasting peace and security are fully restored across the North East,' the statement said.
Military urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements as the military intensifies efforts to prevent terrorists from accessing medical supplies and spreading disease in border communities.
